    Storage 24 Movie Review

    Release: 2012, Rating: R, Runtime: 87 min.
Storage 24 is the perfect example, of unnecessary stories, mixed with some excellent scenes of gory carnage. If Storage 24 was 20 minutes long, it would've been fantastic, but sadly it isn't. Read on to see what's dwelling in those musty storage lockers...

Short nitty-gritty plot description from IMDb is as follows: In London, a military plane crashes leaving its highly classified contents strewn across the city. Completely unaware that the city is in lockdown, a group of people become trapped inside a storage facility with a highly unwelcome guest.

Storage 24 slowly creeps along with it's story, having a bunch of people getting locked in storage building, which contains dozens and dozens of lockers. The reason for the lock down? A military plane has crashed in London, knocking out the power nearby, forcing the building into standby mode. Little do the doomed tenants know, the military plane housed a deadly alien creature, that is now running amuck in that same storage building. Cue unnecessarily long and boring plot threads, sprinkled with bloody, wonderful mayhem.

The biggest thing going against Storage 24, is that it has way too many boring scenes of people standing around, or wandering aimlessly. I'm talking a good hour or more, where, yes there is a creature loose in this building, but no, we need to find out such and such is sleeping with such and such and oh no, someone is jealous and sad. Blech! I don't care. I just want to see some blood and guts dammit!

The part that pains me the most with this movie, is that when the blood and guts do splash on the screen, it's pretty fraking awesome. The creature, even though it seems to be a strange mix of CGI and claymation, really wrecks some havoc on those doomed people. Ripping hearts out and busting up heads left and right. It's pretty sweet and totally awesome. Sadly, that awesome feeling comes way too late into the movie, which will probably turn off a lot of people from seeing it. This would be a shame, as the last bit of the movie and that ridiculous ending (I won't spoil it), are the best parts.

Storage 24 would've been wise to remove all the crappy dialogue and pointless stories and really just focus on making it a gory creature feature. We have an okay design for a monster and the lead of the film does turn out to be someone you want to root for and the later half, sprinkles in some much needed humor. So, most of the ingredients are there to make a stellar horror movie, but alas, it was baked a little too long. I would still recommend checking the movie out, at least for the last 20 minutes. As for the rest? It's basically a forgettable love triangle, with a hint of a monster.

Rating: 2/5 (-3 for the pointless love stories and wasting way too much time on them, instead of giving us the goods. +2 for those last wonderful 20 minutes and that incredibly dumb, yet fun ending.)
