Sorceress seems like my kind of flick. It’s got what can only be described as an unhealthy amount of 90s nudity, witchcraft and Linda Blair scowling every other minute. It’s directed by Chopping Mall director Jim Wynorski, who also partook in directing numerous smutty flicks like Bare Wench Project (a terrible life decision if there ever was one). The thing with Sorceress is that it is a terrible film, there is no doubt about that. Nonetheless, what one might find terrible, someone else will laugh their ass off in delight. Sorceress definitely has plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, be it the soap opera quality acting, the soft core porn or the feeble attempts at a story. I watched Sorceress with my wife and her best friend and we all got a kick out of the flick… well, not so much my wife.
I personally love subjecting people to low-quality porno-esque films, so you know I had a blast with this trash. Will you get the same dirty enjoyment that I did? Read on to find out…

Larry Barnes (Larry Poindexter) is on the fast track to a partnership in a prestigious law firm, and his sexy witch wife Erica (Julie Strain, HEAVY METAL 2000) will do anything to keep her husband happy. But Erica makes a fatal mistake when she tries to kill Larry’s main competition for the partnership, Howard Reynolds (Edward Albert, GALAXY OF TERROR). With Howard now crippled for life from Erica’s dark magic, his wife Amelia (Linda Blair, THE EXORCIST) plots her revenge. Using witchcraft and a mystical medallion, Amelia tries to destroy everyone and everything in Larry’s life!
All the pleasures of the flesh and malevolence of black magic collide in this newly remastered and uncensored version of Jim Wynorski’s SORCERESS (aka TEMPTRESS). Presented for the first time ever from a new 2K scan of the original uncut film element, this release features sex scene footage and additional nudity removed from the original release.
The “plot” for Sorceress is convoluted, to say the least. Things at first seem to be easy to follow when a naked, big fake breasted witch (Julie Strain as Erica) casts a spell on her husband’s friend, Howard, who stole the big promotion. Howard becomes paralyzed and randomly Erica ends up dead from an accident. The husband, Larry, is grieving (dreaming of the threesome he had with Erica and her sister!), but he wastes no time getting back together with his previous lover (Rochelle Swanson as Carol wearing a hilarious blonde wig). Meanwhile, crippled Howard’s wife, played by scowling Linda Blair, is also a witch who vows to get revenge on Larry. Her tactic? Possessing Carol and getting her to slowly change her personality into that of Erica and dream about threesomes. Yep, that’s pretty much it.
Sorceress is a mess of a film, but it does offer a ton of nudity for flesh craving viewers. Linda Blair doesn’t bare her assets, but we have several of the beautiful ladies giving it their all and showing off all the talent that have. Sadly, no amount of flesh is going to satisfy fans of a plot. The film lacks a solid story and a lot of people are definitely going to be pissed off at the lackluster ending. Jim Wynorski’s ending decision feels like you wasted your time watching the movie.
Synapse Films has released Sorceress on Blu-ray with a pretty stunning 2K transfer. The film is also released uncut, with all sex scenes intact (if they weren’t, I assume the film would be 20 minutes long). As for special features, you have two commentaries, one with director Jim Wynorski and the other with Wynorski and Tom Savini. The first commentary is a bit more informative, whereas the second one with Tom Savini is a laugh riot. Savini pretty much asks all the questions we as a viewer are asking. Sadly, no other features are included. Come on! Where are my numerous interviews with all these “stars”?

Sorceress is a shoddy 90s smut flick, but damn did I have some fun with it. Plenty of people will hate the movie, but there will be a special group of people that are going to love this Synapse Films Blu-ray release.
